Think long-term

Thinking long-term allows us to think about big, long-term issues and trends and helps us think creatively we make decisions today that do not negatively impact future generations of Iqalummiut.

We must decide to meet the needs of the present in a way that does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Look at the whole

We want to look at all elements of life in Iqaluit — how we build our community, how to strengthen our relationships, our identity, our families, our broad social and corporate economies, our culture, our governments, how we care for our land, and how we connect and support one another. Understanding Iqaluit this way allows us to better understand how we relate to our region and ultimately the world.

See the connections

Things that happen in Iqaluit are interconnected. Our relationship with the land influences the strength of our families. Our self-esteem influences our usefulness in our society. How we relate to each other influences how we make decisions. Understanding these connections will help us meet our needs as a community, both now and into the future.
